Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell

Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, first entered Parliament as the elected representative for San Fernando East. Mr. Mitchell was made a Member of the Cabinet and served in several portfolios including Minister of Public Administration and Communications, Minister of Housing and Urban Development until he became Minister of Tourism on April 9, 2018.

Minister Mitchell also served as an active Member of several Committees including Public Accounts Committee; Joint Standing Committees on National Security, Finance and Legal Affairs, and Human Rights and Diversity; Joint Select Committee on the Family and Children Division Bill, 2016; and the Special Select Committee – Nomination of a Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Minister Mitchell is an entrepreneur and attorney-at-law and was admitted to the Utter Bar of England and Wales in 2008 and the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 2009. In 2017, he graduated with a Distinction in the International Master of Business Administration from the Arthur Lok Jack, Global School of Business, University of the West Indies.

As Minister of Tourism, Minister Mitchell guides the Revision of the National Tourism Policy to ensure that the industry is set on a strong growth trajectory. He also continues to advocate for tourism education within the school system and awareness of tourism as a viable contributor to economic diversification.
